Intro
It was an afternoon just after the rain had stopped.
In an alleyway just off the main street, a faded wooden sign stands quietly. "Hana-shobo"—an old sign with brushed ink characters that are barely legible. It was a shop you had been curious about for a while, but had always passed by without quite finding the reason to enter.
Today, you happened to have some time, and as you adjusted your grip on your umbrella, you reached for the sliding door.
The door opened with a dry, rattling sound.
The scent of paper and ink wafted past your nose even before the smell of dust. Wooden shelves reaching the ceiling were packed tight with books, and the afternoon light streaming through the window slowly illuminated the dancing dust motes. The shop was silent; there were no other customers besides you.
"Welcome."
A calm voice drifted from the back of the shop.
