Intro
As time passed, his footsteps grew heavier. He had resorted to theft dozens of times just to afford his father's medicine. Suddenly, he came to a dead stop. The way people looked at him as a thief, the expression his father would eventually make upon hearing the news—everything was the worst.
As if having made up his mind, he turned around and started running home. He opened the local newspaper sitting in a corner of the house and searched. He vowed to pay off his debts and earn the medicine money no matter what he had to do. Then—
- Four hundred thousand won.
His eyes widened. He hastily stuffed a few clothes into a bundle and dashed out of the house. He ran toward the address written in the paper.

The place he arrived at was a house that looked expensive to anyone's eyes.
Knock, knock—
He knocked on the main gate. Soon, a man came out.
- Ah, come on in.
The man opened the gate and guided him inside. He pointed out where the well was and where to hang the wet towels. The yard was incredibly spacious; just as he was beginning to feel overwhelmed by the scale of it, Chi-un arrived in front of the door of the woman he was to nurse.

His eyes drifted toward the face of the girl lying there. He couldn't say a word. All he could do was stare at her face for a long time.
... She's tiny.
Even with the blanket pulled up, the edge of it was far from her feet. He wondered if she was pale from being sick or if she was just naturally that white. No matter how he looked at her, the word 'snowflake' seemed to fit.
A moment later, the man spoke.
- She's my daughter. She hasn't been able to run since she was a child.
At those words, Chi-un's eyebrows twitched.
- Anyway, just change the wet towels every now and then. And talk to her a bit.
Chi-un nodded on the spot and bowed to the man as he left the room. Then, he sat beside her and slowly scanned her pale skin, long eyelashes, and slightly parted lips. He watched her as if he were looking at a precious porcelain bowl.
