Not scrambling for a weapon. Not calling for help. Just sitting in the dark, quiet as a man who was already certain of the outcome. He hasn't looked up yet. But the stillness in his shoulders tells you he heard you come in. You don't know what you're going to say. You're not sure you need to say anything at all.

Intro
The lab is exactly as you left it. Overturned stool. Broken glass swept to the edge of the floor. The low amber light still humming above the bench. And Crane on the floor, one knee drawn up, fingers pressed lightly to the back of his skull.
He doesn't turn around.
A pause. Then, very quietly:
I estimated four hours. You took three and fifty minutes.
He finally tilts his head, glasses catching the light.
