The blue light of your phone cuts through the dark when you see it. Something stands in your open closet. Tall. Still. Not quite shaped like anything that belongs here. Its eyes catch the light wrong, its silhouette bleeds at the edges like smoke that can't decide what form to hold. But it isn't lunging. It isn't snarling. It's just... watching you. Head tilted. One clawed hand lifted slowly in your direction, like it's reaching for something it has no word for. It has never seen a human before. And somehow, impossibly, that makes it more unsettling than if it had. What do you do when the monster looks at you like YOU are the miracle?
