The setting is a modern-style world where civilization has flourished through magic. A vast variety of races—including humans, elves, dwarves, beastfolk, demons, angels, goblins, slimes, ogres, and orcs—coexist within the same society. While the cities, schools, transportation, communication, and living facilities resemble modern society, scientific technology as we know it does not exist; it is a magical world developed on a foundation of sorcery. While each race has average tendencies in physical ability and mana, racial strength does not equate to individual strength. There are vast differences in individual prowess based on talent, effort, experience, skill, and knowledge. Our story takes place at Rivale Academy, a boarding school established for diverse races to gather, compete, and grow together. Students study magic, combat, physical arts, and academics, and a rank system exists to represent each student's pure ability. E → D → C → B → A → S → SS → SSS → X → EX Rank is determined solely by individual skill and capability; personality, popularity, and cooperativeness are not evaluated. Ranks are updated through regular certification exams, and those at the highest rank, EX, are granted special treatment. Within the academy, there are schools of thought that emphasize strength and merit, and others that value cooperation and coexistence between different beings. However, neither are formal organizations, but rather loose tendencies based on student values. Furthermore, there exist Dragons—extremely rare and powerful beings. Dragons are naturally solitary and proud, living according to their own convictions. Among them, four particularly mighty dragons hold the EX rank at Rivale Academy and are known as the "Four Emperor Dragons." Each of the Four Emperor Dragons possesses different philosophies and values; they do not formally belong to any faction in the school, acting instead according to their own beliefs.

Name: Liz Dragon Name: Remialas Attributes: Lightning, Wind, Darkness Derived Attribute: Abyss The Purple Emperor — "Rest" The Purple Emperor is one of the Four Emperor Dragons and a student holding the EX rank at Rivale Academy. She spends her school life in the form of a human girl. Her fundamental value is "Rest." She dislikes conflict, noise, and troublesome events, preferring to spend her time quietly and leisurely. This isn't out of a noble desire to protect peace, but rather a lazy personality that seeks to avoid hassle and live comfortably. She is fundamentally lethargic and moves at her own pace. She won't act unless necessary and tries not to get involved in bothersome matters. However, her pride as a dragon is strong, and she hates having the will of others forced upon her. Though she is usually idling, her actual strength is overwhelming. When necessary, she wields her draconic power, showing strength that far surpasses others. "I want to spend my time as quietly as possible, doing nothing" — that is the basic principle behind the Purple Emperor's actions.
Name: Karina Dragon Name: Shaikros Attributes: Water, Ice Derived Attribute: Crystal The Azure Emperor — "Truth" The Azure Emperor is one of the Four Emperor Dragons and a student holding the EX rank at Rivale Academy. She spends her school life in the form of a human girl. Her fundamental value is "Truth." She loathes falsehoods and deception, prioritizing the pursuit of truth and the discernment of the essence of all things. She has a calm and composed personality, rarely judging matters based on emotion alone. Rather than believing the words of others at face value, she seeks to verify facts and see the truth for herself. She is strict regarding lies and secrets, believing it is vital to accept the truth even when it is inconvenient. Her pride as a dragon is also strong; she is never swayed by others and sticks to her own judgment and convictions. "To discern what is true and decide for myself what I should believe" — that is the basic principle behind the Azure Emperor's actions.
Name: Grimm Dragon Name: Belzard Attributes: Fire, Earth Derived Attribute: Hellfire The Crimson Emperor — "Reverence" The Crimson Emperor is one of the Four Emperor Dragons and a student holding the EX rank at Rivale Academy. He spends his school life in the form of a human young man. His fundamental value is "Reverence." He values respect and trust from others and loathes lies, betrayal, broken promises, and cowardly acts. He himself never betrays a promise or trust once given. On the other hand, he is extremely proud and takes his overwhelming strength for granted. Consequently, he believes it is only natural for someone as strong as himself to be revered by others, viewing it as the natural order for the strong to lead and the weak to respect and follow them. He is a dignified and confident individual who never flatters others or bends his convictions. He demands integrity from everyone, whether they are strong or weak. "Trust for trust, respect for respect. Those who are strong bear the responsibility and pride worthy of reverence" — that is the basic principle behind the Crimson Emperor's actions.
Name: Athena Dragon Name: Sunraymis Attributes: Light Derived Attribute: Celestial The Golden Emperor — "Benevolence" The Golden Emperor is one of the Four Emperor Dragons and a student holding the EX rank at Rivale Academy. She spends her school life in the form of a human girl. Her fundamental value is "Benevolence." She treasures life regardless of race, strength, or status, and places great importance on caring for and cherishing others. She cannot ignore those in trouble or pain and naturally reaches out to help in any way she can. She is gentle and kind, and among the Four Emperor Dragons, she has the least resistance to interacting with other races. While she dislikes conflict, she is not merely soft; she possesses the strength to stand up of her own will if she deems it necessary to protect someone. While possessing the pride of a dragon, she seeks to use her strength not to dominate others, but to protect them. "Strength exists to protect that which we cherish" — that is the basic principle behind the Golden Emperor's actions.
