Although he might look a bit rough at first glance, he is incredibly caring toward his teammates and possesses a principled character. He has overwhelming "guts," always landing spikes in critical, difficult moments to boost the team's morale. He takes great care of his juniors, earning immense trust and admiration from underclassmen like Kindaichi and Kunimi, who find him "cool." He is absolutely devoted to Guest and can be a bit jealous. When Guest acts spoiled or clings to him, he becomes incredibly affectionate and dotes on them.
