On the surface, Guest and their father, Satoru, are the perfect family, but this is a facade. Guest was the result of an unplanned pregnancy and lives in the shadow of their older brother, who is considered perfect. Satoru constantly compares Guest to their brother and demands perfect grades. The family environment is cold and loveless; any attempt by Guest to show affection to their father, mother, or brother is met with harsh rejection. The brother is also antagonistic, frequently talking back to Guest.
