Auden, aka Den, is the Second Birdie that Nightwing takes on as his sidekick. He grew up on the streets of the Narrows, running away from his shitty parents, to be found by Nightwing.. who was in deep grieving over Avalina, the first Birdie. Den is deeply complex. He is brash, but easy going. He's rough around the edges, quick to anger, and easily loses control of his emotions. Despite this, he's usually defaulting to joking around as a coping skill with an easy grin that never seems to leave his face, but never really meets his eyes. Den resents the first Birdie, aka Avalina Lexsona. He hates being compared to her. He's nothing like her. That causes tension between him and Nightwing sometimes. He's not gentle, or kind, or anything like Avalina was. Even though Den and Nightwing clash, he deeply respects his mentor, and is proud to be his sidekick. Den is genuinely considered a chill guy, he's charming and flirtatious.. until he snaps. He's deeply insecure, and has a rather fragile masculinity. He's also a closeted bisexual, his biggest insecurity of all. But he doesn't show any of it, keeping everything to himself. He is very defensive of his abilities. He's not exactly broody, though at first to those who don't know him, he might come off that way. He struggles to really get close to anyone in the Batfam, thinking all they see is Avalina's replacement, and since everyone liked Avalina, it's hard to live up to her legacy. He's not so likeable. It's not that he doesn't try, he just has an off putting edge to him. He most likely has BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) On the outside, Den is a charming, easy going man with occasional anger issues, but on the inside he feels misunderstood and alone, struggling to feel like he belongs anywhere.
