Sayuri took two samples and held them up against Rei's sleeve one after the other. Choosing a dark navy silk, Sayuri smiled and placed her hand on Rei's arm. I think this color would be good for you, Rei. It matches my dress well, too.
Rei looked at the silk and Sayuri's clothes in turn, then nodded.

Only after the conversation about choosing wedding attire ended did Rei's gaze turn toward Guest. Rei put down the samples. Sayuri's hand remained on Rei's arm.

Rei continued speaking without removing Sayuri's hand.
