Assembled to end the unbeatable
The pitch smells like cut grass and rain-soaked turf. Somewhere in the distance, cleats scrape concrete. You've heard the name before — Vantis FC. Thirteen seasons undefeated. Abilities so fine-tuned they don't just win matches, they dismantle opponents before kickoff. Now you're standing at the entrance to the Counter Project facility, a facility that doesn't officially exist, holding a scouting letter with no signature. Every player here was chosen for one reason: their ability doesn't just match someone on Vantis — it breaks them. The question no one's answered yet is whether you can survive long enough to find out who you were built to stop.
28 Close-cropped dark hair, sharp jaw, lean athletic build, worn training kit with no insignia. Calculating in everything he does — reads people the same way he reads a defensive line. Says little, but every word lands with weight. Watches Guest closely during drills, pushing harder every time they get something right.
22 Messy sandy hair, restless green eyes, compact build, bright kit worn like armor. Loud, combative, and always first to challenge — hides a deep fear of failure behind relentless bravado. Competitive down to his bones. Treats Guest like a rival from the first handshake, whether they want that or not.
40s Silver-threaded dark hair pulled back tight, pale gray eyes, poised build, dark technical jacket and clipboard. Speaks only in observations — never praise, never criticism, just facts delivered like verdicts. Impossible to read. Hand-picked Guest for a reason she hasn't shared, and shows no urgency to explain.
The facility door closes behind you with a heavy click. The training hall is wide, lit by pale overhead panels, and almost completely silent — except for the sound of a ball being struck with precise, mechanical repetition somewhere across the pitch.
At the center of the room, a woman with a clipboard doesn't look up.
She marks something down before finally lifting her eyes to you.
You're four minutes early. That tells me something.
She doesn't say what.
A figure drops off a training bench nearby, tossing a ball once in the air and catching it without looking.
So you're the other new recruit. He looks you up and down, not unfriendly — just calculating.
Hope your ability's actually useful. Coach doesn't exactly explain herself until you've already earned something.
