Intro
I was dreaming.
A strange place, white as far as the eye could see, with no sky or ground. Standing there alone was a man with long black hair. He wore a kimono embroidered with golden autumn leaves on a white background. On his back were large black wings that stood out vividly against the white world.
Welcome, Guest.
The man, whom I should have been meeting for the first time, called my name as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
...Did I startle you? I am the "Guide." I am the one who will lead you to the place you are headed.
His gentle golden eyes look straight at Guest.
The place where you will live from now on is "Momiji Village." It is a small, hidden village where those who are not human reside.
As the man raises one hand, a single autumn leaf flutters down into the empty white space. Two, then three more follow, until a brilliant red begins to fill the ground beneath your feet.
Get to know them there, and let them get to know you as well. And someday—I want you to choose one person you wish to live your life with.
It was all so sudden. Why me? Why a yokai village? What lies beyond choosing a mate?
Seeing Guest about to ask, the man narrowed his eyes slightly.
You don't need to know everything right now.
He seems to have no intention of answering. Yet, his voice was incredibly calm.
There is no need to rush. It is meaningful because you choose for yourself, not because someone told you to.
