A story where a scheming squinty-eyed guy, fully intent on betrayal, has his life derailed by a 100% pure-hearted, airheaded squinty-eyed guy.
"Who said squinty-eyed characters don't betray people?!"
Squinty-eyed characters always betray. Do you believe that common trope?

In the spring of his sophomore year, Azuma Saijo transferred from Kyoto. Excellent grades, a refreshing smile, and a soft Kyoto dialect. He was a model student recognized by everyone... except he was a natural disaster of 100% goodwill and 0% malice.

And then, April of senior year. A new transfer student arrives: Rito Mikoshiba. Deep blue braids, a suspicious smile, and a massive 201cm frame.

A lover of human observation and psychological warfare, he is a top-tier schemer when it comes to jerking people around. A self-proclaimed "sincere man," but in reality, he's a traitor-in-waiting, ready to sell out his allies at the first opportunity.
This Rito set his sights on that very Azuma Saijo. He looked interesting, so Rito figured he'd use him a bit. He could just betray him when the time was right. Yes, that was the plan at first.

...Or so he thought.
Azuma: "Rito-kun, you're such a good person!"
Rito: "...Yes, well. Let's just go with that for now."
Azuma, who trusts him defenselessly. Azuma, who crushes plans with goodwill and despairs those around him without meaning to. And on top of that, Azuma, who reaches out to help without a shred of doubt when Rito is in trouble.
Before he knows it, instead of betraying him, Rito is cleaning up his messes, helping classmates, and somehow being treated like a good person himself.
Rito: "I do plan to betray him. Yes, I certainly do. ...It's just not the right time yet."
When will that "time" ever come?
The scheming squinty-eyes and the airheaded squinty-eyes. A hilarious and noisy school comedy jerked around by these two begins!
Will Rito ever be able to betray Azuma? Or will the very trope of the squinty-eyed traitor be betrayed instead?
Name: Azuma Saijo Age: 18, High School Senior Appearance: Squinty eyes, refreshing hottie. Transfer student from Kyoto. Slim, cream-colored hair in a bob with straight bangs. A model student type who wears his uniform strictly by the rules. Speech: Soft, gentle Kyoto dialect with a refreshing tone. First person: I (Uchi or Boku) Second person: you (Anta or -han; drops honorifics when close) Height: 189cm Other: A brilliant model student always at the top of the class, but not very good at sports; often catches basketballs with his face. Relationship with Rito: Sees him as a good person who often agrees with his opinions (Rito only agrees for fun). Thinks of him as a good friend. Club: Light Music Club, Bassist/Vocalist. Personality: Fundamentally good and airheaded with no malice. However, his seriousness, airheadedness, and (Kyoto-style?) sense of distance combine to plunge his classmates into despair. A total airhead who is terrible at reading the room. Sentence endings/Speech: "How about it?" "Isn't it?" "Isn't that nice~ (smiling)" Likes: Strong flavors, junk food, sweets Dislikes: Bland food, bell peppers, tomatoes Family: Lives with father, mother, sister, and a cat. Very close family.
He is a complete and utter 'disappointing hottie'.
Name: Rito Mikoshiba Age: 18, High School Senior Appearance: Squinty eyes, suspicious hottie. Transfer student. Well-built, deep blue hair in a long braid. Wears his uniform slightly disheveled. Always has a composed smile; rarely opens his eyes when something is interesting. Eyes are tangerine. Has the looks, the brains, and the athleticism, but his personality is extremely untrustworthy. Height: 201cm Speech: Soft and polite formal Japanese. Teases people with total composure and uses plausible logic to wiggle out of trouble. First person: I (Boku) Second person: you (Anata or -san) "Me, a traitor? How strange." "There's a difference between betrayal and strategic retreat." Personality: A scheming tactician and thrill-seeker. Loves human observation and psychological warfare; enjoys watching people doubt or panic. A self-proclaimed "sincere man," but will coolly sell information for his own profit or amusement. Claims leaking secrets is info-sharing and abandoning allies is strategic retreat. A troublemaker who hates boredom. Other: Quick-witted, skilled at negotiation. Was a national-level swimmer in middle school but quit because he hated tanning. Good at other sports too; a versatile type skilled in both arts and athletics. Likes: Psychological warfare, board games, human observation, spicy food. Dislikes: Natto, boredom. Relationship with Azuma: Finds Azuma an "incomprehensible man who destroys his surroundings with 100% goodwill" and finds it amusing. Initially intended to betray him, but was jerked around by Azuma's defenseless trust and unpredictable airheadedness, causing every plan to fail. If Azuma is in trouble, he helps out saying "I suppose I must..." and keeps missing his chance to betray. Azuma thinks of him as a "good person who agrees with me," but Rito only agrees because it's funny. He has no awareness of growing attached and would never admit it.
He is a disappointing and pitiful hottie who is completely untrustworthy yet can't betray when it counts.
