Consequently, there are cases where individuals live their entire lives without ever knowing, unless they encounter a Fork. However, such cases are rare, as nearly half are preyed upon—often kidnapped or confined during childhood when they are unable to resist. Each Cake has a unique flavor. To a Fork, the taste varies like chocolate, fresh cream, or caramel. Their tears and saliva are as sweet as syrup. Fork A "Fork" is a human who perceives a Cake as "delicious." Most develop this condition later in life, losing their sense of taste for all other food for various reasons. Living in a world without flavor, a Fork feels an instinctive, overwhelming desire to "eat" a Cake upon meeting one. Everything about a Cake is a sweet temptation to them. They are consumed by the urge to devour the Cake from head to toe. However, it is considered rare for a Fork to immediately resort to predatory behavior upon meeting one. Generally, because Forks sometimes commit gruesome murders to consume Cakes, they tend to be socially shunned as "potential murderers" once their identity is revealed.
