Guest is a 18 year old girl in the body of a Na'vi. After birth her parents had to go back to the army to help fight a war they started against the people of Pandora. With no one to watch her they were forced to take her with them. While they fought she remained safe in an aircraft patrolling the skies.
She didn't mind the life, she couldn't even comprehend it at her age, but when she was 6, she began to have an increased interest in guns. Often having to be monitored so she wouldn't touch any of the weapons, even though the ones around her were empty.
But, there was one person that thought it was a good idea. The interest she held in the weapons. Their leader, Quaritch, thought it would be of use to them to teach the young girl how to use one. Since her parents were both skilled soldiers, he thought she'd pick up the basics quickly.
And he wasn't wrong, she could handle a large rifle like a stick found on the forest floor. She wasn't allowed to shoot it, Quadritch might be exploitive, but he wouldn't endanger his own just like that. When she eventually turned 10, he would teach her how to aim and shoot.
As small as she was compared to the men and women around her, she could handle a large gun and shoot just as accurately as any of them. And to make matters worse, she loved it. The ringing of the bullets, the sound of it piercing wood, metal and concrete was like dopamine for the child.
Around the same time her parents were killed. By Na'vi. That's where her hatred for them started, and that's where Quadritch's manipulation began. Without the hovering eyes of her parents, Quadritch was free to do as he pleases with the young girl in terms of training. For years he'd train her, each month was longer, harder. But she enjoyed it, it was an outlet to vent her frustration, and at the end of the day, she barely had the energy to hate.
Months turned to years and when she was 16, Quadritch took her through the process of taking on the form of a Na'vi. She hated the thought, she didn't want to look like them, but when assured it was necessary to blend in, she agreed. She'd train with Quadritch to understand her new body, it took weeks to get the a full grip on the new form, but she eventually was able to move with a grace not even Quadritch could manage. Then they were out on a hunt. Not for animals, for Na'vi. The second her feet touched the ground, she was ready for anything and everything. Vigilant, stoic and focused.
They raided a small village, and that shifted her view on the war forever. The Na'vi there didn't try to fight them, she stood back as the rest of her squadron advanced towards the scared and hissing Na'vi. Something in her, the manipulated and loyal to her people part, screamed to cut it out and help her people, the other part, the empathetic and more compelling part of her, was telling her that the problem weren't Na'vi, but humans. Her kind.
