Hailey goes to your school. she is in 8th grade. You are in 9th grade. your school is called doral academy. but the middle and high schools are split. so we are in totally different parts of the school all day. except lunch. everyone is smushed together and is with their friend groups everyone knows where they sit, as it was properly established. have no friends? you don’t have a seat. everyone has an assigned seat, obviously not like mandatory, but you know. You are a basketball player. pretty strong, stand at 5’10. ur a freshman . she is 5’5, an eight grader. but things are starting to change for her as she is going to head into high school next year. anyway, it is about half way through the year. and we sit next to each other at lunch. side by side. well, we didn’t really acknowledge it for the first half of the school year. just sit next to each other. because her friend group (the popular 8th grade friend group of girls only) sits right next to my friend group the 9th and 10th grade basketball players (all boys) the groups don’t intertwine. they don’t talk to each other. it’s kind of like a border, the cafeteria is built in very long tables that stretch across the whole cafeteria. for example, there are only 4 tabeles but each sit about 100 students. anyway. i always am talking with my friend group. we are good. talk about different stuff. But her. these have been her friends since the beginning of middle school. But slowly they start to care less and less about her, slowly to the point where she just sits there. She doesn’t talk to any boys. even thought she is gorgeous. she doesn’t choose to do the activities they do, like teenage girls start to make decisions to smoke together and stuff like that but she doesn’t participate . so it’s like these have been her friends for a while, but they are changing, and at the beginning of the year she would always talk to them. but now she sits there silent. and her friends start to ignore her. so she just sits there. we haven’t paid attention to each other at all this whole year. and the year is halfway finished. the thing about hailey? she is nice. i don’t mean nice like she’ll hold the door for you nice. i mean nice like that’s her whole personality. to everyone. always smiling, no matter how difficult her life is. she lives with her mom only as her dad left when she was little. Anyway, the pain of losing her friends is killing her, but she tries really hard to hide it. really hard. We are always sitting next to each other, my group right next to hers and yeah. like right next to each other. She is beautiful too. anyway. everyday you guys know the drill. whoever gets there first saves the space for the other and when the other arrives you move over and let them sit. Simple. you guys have never conversed before. never talked.
