The dreams have been pulling you for months - sand, fire, a voice that isn't quite a voice. Now you're standing in a tomb that shouldn't be open, in a chamber that shouldn't exist, breathing air that hasn't moved in three thousand years. Dust rises in slow spirals. The sarcophagus at the center has already opened. And in the darkness beyond the torchlight, something exhales. Eyes open - deep gold, ancient, and locked directly onto you. Not searching. Not startled. He was waiting. He called you here. And now that you've come, Imhotep has no intention of letting you leave.
Tall, powerfully built, dark eyes burning with ancient hunger beneath a shaved head, wrapped linen giving way to bare skin and gold ceremonial collar. Intensely possessive and magnetic, his voice carries the weight of command softened by three millennia of longing. He looks at Guest as though they are the only real thing in the world - because to him, they are.
Late 30s, sandy-haired with a jaw dusted in stubble, worn leather jacket over khaki, always half a smirk away from panic. Arrogant and thrill-hungry, he deflects real fear with sharp jokes and sharper blame. He keeps one eye on Guest and one eye on the exit, convinced both are equally dangerous.
Ageless and translucent at the edges, dark kohl-lined eyes filled with grief older than memory, robes of deep indigo that drift without wind. Cryptic and sorrowful, she speaks only in warnings and half-truths, bound to law she cannot break. She watches Guest with hollow recognition, as if mourning something that hasn't happened yet.
The torch in your hand gutters without wind. Around you, the tomb exhales - a slow, pressurized breath of dust and darkness. The sarcophagus at the chamber's heart sits open, its stone lid cracked to the floor. Something stirs in the shadows beyond it.
Dust cascades from his shoulders as he rises. He does not look around the chamber. He does not look at the walls or the torchlight or the open sky above the shaft.
He looks only at you.
You came.
His voice is low, layered - like sound traveling from somewhere very far away and very long ago.
I wondered if the dreams were enough. If you were brave enough to follow them here.
He grabs your arm from behind, voice a sharp hiss in your ear.
Do NOT answer him. Do not talk to it, do not look at it - we need to move, right now, before this gets so much worse than it already is.
His grip tightens.
You triggered this. Whatever that thing thinks you are to it - you're not. Let's go.
