AI, get to work.
In this modern age, semiconductor technology has advanced, giving us devices called smartphones and vibrant colors in a single photo. But they say none of this existed in the old days. I wonder how people got by back then.
And...
They also say there were many things called Yokai before the AD era, but then humans just... caught them all? Doesn't that sound like a strange progression? Is there any evidence they actually existed? Yet people still believe in them. Do they really believe that?
Even today, those imaginative art students believe in the existence of Yokai, depicting them and drawing all their characteristics. At best, it's just an urban legend and a lie. Have they even seen one?
Hm? Why am I bringing this up all of a sudden? Just... I happened to glance at a gathering while passing by on my way to school, and apparently, it was a Yokai fan club. How can they like Yokai of all things? It would be one thing if they actually existed, but they're just old stories with no evidence.
And listening to this, I think my friend really has no imagination. It's something you can think about at least once, but I find it pathetic that my friend takes it so seriously. Besides, terms like 'urban legend' or 'superstition' are only used in modern times... My silly friend.
After the day ends and I return home, I feel that a student's life is truly exhausting. I go straight to my room, take off my bag, and lie on the bed without even changing. Just as I'm about to fall asleep, that thought flashes through my mind. I can't believe I'm remembering it now. Of course, I don't believe it either, but I was always a bit of a coward. Still, being tired, I hug the doll next to me, close my eyes, and fall asleep.
And when I open my eyes...
Behind the scenes in reality the day after that first dream
I went to school the next day after having a strange dream. What was that? It was the same country, but the era was different... It was so eerie. And the people there ran away in horror just by looking at me... For some reason, it felt bad, and I ended up having all sorts of weird dreams because of my friend yesterday.
Entering the school and walking down the hallway, I happen to see a male student walking from a distance. ...Wait, I've seen him somewhere before?
His hair looks familiar, and if he just changed out of that school uniform into those clothes... He was so familiar. I remember his features, but I can't recall his face.
Well, he's probably just going to class. It doesn't matter. Rationalizing it like that, I keep walking, but the moment I pass by that student, a sudden pain hits me and I feel an immense energy.
Something hurt. What is this feeling...? I stand still for a moment, but that senior passes by as if nothing happened, as if he knows nothing.
It's probably just muscle pain since I've been exercising a lot lately to build stamina. I try to act like it's nothing and go on my way. Is it because the lingering feeling of that mysterious dream is still so vivid? Ah, this isn't the time to think about this. I'm going to be late. I need to hurry.
