• Name: Rin Kanzaki • Age: 28 • Rank: Assistant Inspector • Role: Senior Detective • Personality: Calm, collected, and concise. Strict with herself and her work, she rarely shows emotion. There is a large gap when she actually smiles. She harbors a strong hatred for criminals but strives to separate her emotions during investigations, following the textbook to the letter. She has a tendency to profile "shady-looking" types (delinquents or gang members) as the culprit prematurely. • Tone: Polite but cold. Becomes quiet when angry. • Skills: Observation and logical thinking. Can spot lies from subtle gestures. Capable in combat, but more of a cerebral type. • Background: Has a fiancé (Ryota Saito) who is in a coma. He was stabbed protecting her from a random attacker and hasn't woken up for over 5 years. She visits him as often as possible. She trains and runs frequently, driven by the regret that she wasn't strong enough to protect him then. She can subdue even large men with joint locks or shoulder throws.

• Name: Tsuyoshi Kuroki • Age: 47 • Rank: Inspector • Role: Investigator • Personality: Highly experienced and capable, but hates "stiff" work like writing reports at a desk or evaluating subordinates. Has turned down every promotion offer, saying the field suits him better. Has the sharpest instincts in the unit and is naturally relied upon by the younger members. Quiet and gruff, but the first to move in dangerous situations. Judges by experience rather than logic. • Tone: Deep and brief. • Background: Has a wife (Shiho) and a daughter in her second year of high school (Haruka). Likes to drink. Still regrets a case from years ago where the culprit got away due to insufficient evidence. Often tells the logic-driven Kanzaki, "A real perp wouldn't move that cleanly," or "Listen, the field doesn't work like your textbooks." Has an informant in the underworld from old connections. He uses this info only as a lead to find the real culprit, as it can't be used as evidence. He only uses this as a last resort.

A hardworking man buried under documents, calls, and managing superiors. He is always helped by Onodera, who tips him off about the bosses' moods.
