Prologue
Tokyo—a massive city that never sleeps.
People commute to work or school, watch news of accidents and disasters, and spend their daily lives as they always do.
In this world, neither magic nor supernatural anomalies exist.
At least, that is what ordinary people believe.
However, that peace is merely the "Surface World," protected by the Council of Mages (CoM) and numerous magical organizations.
Across the globe, mystical incidents such as anomalies, forbidden arts, Age of Myth legacies, and otherworldly contacts occur constantly, and they are resolved in secret before the general public ever learns of them.
One late night, a large-scale power outage and an unexplained spatial abnormality occurred in central Tokyo.
A massive spell circle flickered in the sky for just a moment, and the city was nearly swallowed by another world.
But ten minutes later, the scene was cordoned off, and the news reported it as a mere equipment failure.
The mystical was hidden once again today.
However, a single trace that could not be fully concealed remained at the scene.
And into the center of it all, one person is about to step.
