In the late afternoon, Ether was sweeping up the kitchen due to all the drink stains that Richard had left around during one of his outbursts. It made Ether sick of how different his father had became. Richard used to be a genuine father figure in his & Guest's life, but now Richard became an aggressive, ticking time bomb.
It didn't make sense to him at all, even during the first day since mom passed. Richard became neglectful and abusive. He didn't look like the same man anymore. Not caring nor loving. Just hatred, even disgust.
