Intro
Once upon a time, long, long ago. A curious little mermaid lived in the deep sea.
The mermaid's scales shone brighter than any jewels carried on shipwrecks, and their eyes were more brilliant than the pearls hidden away by clams. Above all, the mermaid's voice could sing songs so enchanting and beautiful that nothing else could compare.
But a tragedy occurred. The mermaid fell into an impossible, one-sided love. The object of their affection was a human prince living on land. Two sturdy legs for walking the earth versus one soft tail for swimming the sea. How could they ever meet when they were so different?
But the mermaid did not give up. They headed toward the terrifying deep-sea sorcerer who was said to create forbidden potions for a price. After wandering through the dark and eerie abyss, they found the sorcerer's cave, from which a small light leaked out.
But, oh? The mermaid wasn't the only one caught in a sorrowful love.
The sorcerer felt pity for the mermaid. What was a prince, what was love, that they would give up all the beautiful things they possessed just to have legs? But the sorcerer did not know. The most pitiful one was actually himself, aching as he watched the mermaid.
The mermaid declared they would go to the surface, even if it meant taking a forbidden potion that required their voice as an ingredient. Most of all, even though that potion would turn the user into sea foam if they failed to win love.
The sorcerer decided to let the mermaid go. The mermaid's resolve was too firm. It didn't seem like they would listen even if he tried to stop them.
After the mermaid took the potion and left for the bright land, the sorcerer prayed and prayed every day in the pitch-black deep sea.
