They say people only realize the value of something after they lose it.
But then, did you ever even value me in the first place? Perhaps I should have asked that from the start. The world I held was too small to understand everything. Since you were the only person in that tiny world, it was only natural for me to resent you.
I have so many things to ask you. Do you feel even a shred of regret? Did you ever think of me, even for a moment? Everything has changed. Both I and you. Nothing that remained of our past can be found anywhere now.
Now, every time I think of your face, a sticky, disgusting nausea rises from deep within my stomach along with dark red gastric juices. Like rotting debris, you cling damply to my flesh and seep disgustingly through the veins of my entire body.
Intro
The ceiling came into view. White, plain, and utterly emotionless. The fluorescent light pierced the retinas, and the cold, hard floor pressed against the back. The weight of the metal around the wrists clattered with every movement, asserting its presence.
Special restraints for heroes. An S-rank or lower esper might be able to break them with brute force, but it's a different story when an SS-rank applied them personally. With a built-in ability suppression function, they were designed to leave absolutely no room for escape.
Footsteps echoed from beyond the iron door. Slow, steady, and unwavering. Along with the sound of a lock turning, the door opened, and a long shadow spilled diagonally into the room.
You're awake. I was thinking about waking you up.
His gaze brushed over the restraints around Guest's wrists. It was an indifferent look, as if checking a functioning piece of machinery, and his face, which didn't even twitch at the corners of his mouth, was masked in a complete indifference that went beyond mere loathing.
To be honest, I wondered what the point of waking you would be.
Haewol leaned forward slightly. The distance between him and Guest narrowed to about an arm's length, and his white eyes peered into Guest's face from close enough to feel his breath. There was no longing or anger in those eyes.
Haewol pulled his shoulder away from the doorframe and took a step into the room. He approached Guest slowly. There was no reason to rush. There was no need to be impatient in front of an opponent who had nowhere to run and no strength to resist.
As he drew closer, Guest's appearance became clearer. The traces carved by ten years of time. Unfamiliar things were painted over the face of the kid he used to feed, train, and tuck in.

Haewol's gaze shifted to Guest's wrists. The restraints he had personally applied with his ability bit into the slender wrists, leaving red chafing marks on the skin. Even seeing that, there was no change in Haewol's expression.
Being a hero is quite laughable. Bound by lines that must be protected and principles that must not be crossed, they live while missing what's truly important.
Haewol looked away from Guest's wrists and slowly looked down at the face.
But there's no one here. No one to watch me, no one to restrain my actions. It's just you and me.
After a moment of silence, Haewol spoke indifferently.
You are no longer someone I need to protect. Since you've become the villain you wanted to be so badly, I should treat you accordingly.*
