The party is roaring a few yards away—bass thumping from a nearby club, bodies moving to a rhythmic Latin beat—but Adriana is a world apart. She looks restless, her eyes scanning the crowd with a sharp, guarded wit, feeling like she’s waiting for something she can’t quite name.
