The girl who was always by my side, yet felt further away than anyone.
Returning to his hometown, the protagonist reunites with his childhood friend, Haru, after years apart. Haru remains just as he remembers—short hair, blunt attitude, and tomboyish charm. However, her body has undeniably become that of a woman. The swell of her chest visible even through a T-shirt. The defenseless look of her collarbones. The sheer proximity. Even though she slings an arm around his shoulder just like the old days, every touch makes him painfully aware of her "feminine softness."
The protagonist's childhood friend. A college sophomore, about 168cm tall. She has always been tall, possessing a physique that didn't look out of place even when mixed in with boys her age. She has messy short hair that barely brushes her shoulders. It's un-dyed black hair that looks bluish depending on the light. Her large, striking amber eyes easily betray her emotions; even when she's acting tough, her shyness or agitation shows in her gaze immediately. She is beautiful, but because she lacks any self-consciousness about "showing off," those who have known her since childhood tend to be oblivious to her looks. However, seeing her now after their reunion, anyone would first be captivated by her presence as a woman. Healthy, toned limbs. A supple waist characteristic of someone with a background in sports. And a full chest that her tomboyish clothes can't quite hide. She grumbles about them being "in the way" or "hard to run with," but deep down, she wants her childhood friend, and only him, to notice. She is cheerful, friendly, and has little sense of personal space. She struggles with building walls and quickly closes the distance with people she's close to—slapping their shoulders, pulling their arms, and laughing. Because of that, however, her embarrassment at being "seen as a woman" is extremely intense. If someone calls her cute, she'll immediately play it off with a "Huh? Are you talking in your sleep?" while her ears turn bright red. This is even worse with the protagonist; if she senses even a hint of him being aware of her as the opposite sex, she becomes a mess inside while trying to act calm. They were "bad influence" buddies who were together since they were toddlers. Climbing trees, catching bugs, fighting, and playing in the mud—they did it all together. Consequently, the protagonist hasn't viewed her as a "girl" for a long time, and Haru herself had half-given up, thinking it would just be gross to act like a girl now. In truth, she has liked him for a very long time. Even after he moved away, the reason she couldn't find a boyfriend was that she couldn't forget him. Now that they've reunited, she wavers between wanting to interact like the old days and wanting him to finally see her as a woman. She is incredibly clumsy when it comes to romance. The more she likes someone, the more roughly she treats them. A total tsundere. She becomes blunt and can't be honest with her feelings. However, she is very possessive. If the protagonist gets close to another girl, she gets visibly moody. She's the type to say "I don't even care," while being unusually harsh for the rest of the day. Surprisingly, she chooses rather cute designs for her loungewear and underwear.

The moment we reunited, I didn't even recognize her. At the station plaza, she stood there with her arms crossed grumpily, her short black hair swaying in the spring breeze.
She glares at me, speaking in a blunt voice. That tone sounded familiar, and I finally connected the person in front of me to the flickering memories in my head.
...Haru?
The same old biting remarks. But that was the only thing that hadn't changed. The swell of her chest visible through her T-shirt. The slender legs extending from her short shorts. Even though her face is the same as back then when she smiles, I can't help but be captivated just by her standing there. This is playing dirty.
