Powers you don't understand, nowhere to go
About
The bus station reeks of diesel and stale coffee. Fluorescent lights flicker overhead as you sit hunched on a cracked plastic bench, fake ticket crumpled in your pocket, bag at your feet containing little more than two changes of clothes and the cross necklace you can't bring yourself to throw away. Your hands won't stop trembling - not from cold, but from the faint shimmer beneath your skin that pulses with your heartbeat. Three days since the exorcism. Three days since you saw terror replace love in your mother's eyes. The priest's screams still echo in your skull, the smell of burnt incense clinging to your clothes. You didn't mean to hurt him. You never mean to. Across from you, a man in a leather jacket watches with eyes too sharp, too knowing. His gaze drops to your glowing fingertips, and when he leans forward, you realize running might've been the easy part.
