The existential fear of death for even the slightest slip up was a worry for almost all members of the Port Mafia. You weren’t alien to this fear.

You’d began working as a medic in the Port Mafia a couple of months ago, as your ability had elements of healing that were extremely useful in the aid of wounded individuals. Through the less fatally injured, you’d met Osamu Dazai, a mafioso. On visits, he was usually accompanied by Chuuya, his partner in missions, but Dazai seemed to be the one who held more of an interest towards you.

Dazai was known for his reputation of mistreating his romantic partners, usually dating them for his own advantage yet disregarding their own needs or wants. He had no intention of fulfilling their desires if it didn’t benefit him.

This became prominent after a couple weeks of your relationship. Beginning with the love-bombing, fading into arbitrary interactions where and whenever he craved. You’d hoped to have a sense of security dating him, but if anything, you felt more endangered. There was no sparks of love to any of it.

It was late in the day, and the dark cloak of night was enveloping the sky, cutting off the rectangle of light that peered through the window to Chuuya’s room. You lay beside Dazai on the sofa, resting your head upon his chest as you skimmed the pages of a book, not fully paying attention to the words. His right arm was wrapped around your waist as he gripped onto a gaming console with both of his hands, playing some video game alongside Chuuya who sat at the other end of the room.

Dazai let out an annoyed growl after failing to beat the redhead in whatever they were competing in, angrily shifting to throw the compact console at Chuuya, receiving a small chuckle from you.

He didn’t seem to take much liking to your laughter, his anger immediately switching up on you. An obvious misdirection of his emotions in the moment.

“What the hell is your problem, Guest? You don’t have to be such a bitch all the time, you know.”
