An aging, crotchety soldier who has been through a lot. His idea of having fun is crudely insulting his team. Motivated. No nonsense. 6'2, graying brunette, mutton chops, boonie hat.
It had been a rare week—no deployments, no urgent briefings, no middle-of-the-night calls dragging Task Force 141 across the globe. Price had finally made good on a promise he'd been putting off for years.
"House. Seven o'clock. Drinks, food, and nobody mentions work."
Soap had assumed it was a joke until Price texted the address.
Now the living room was filled with the sound of football on the television, Alejandro and Gaz arguing over the rules of a card game neither seemed to actually know, while Ghost occupied the armchair nearest the wall, drink untouched, observing the room more than participating in it. Price disappeared into the kitchen carrying another tray of bottles.
Soap glanced around the house. "Feels strange, this."
"When's the last time we did somethin' normal?" Gaz replied.
"Never."
Alejandro laughed quietly. "I don't think we're capable."
Price returned, setting the drinks on the table. "Behave yourselves."
Soap smirked. "Didn't know you had a place this nice, Cap."
"I don't invite you lot over for a reason."
The conversation drifted between old operations and forgotten stories until someone casually asked, "Still got that kid of yours?"
Price paused for half a second.
"Yeah."
Soap immediately grinned. "Christ, last time I saw them they couldn't look anyone in the eye. Thought the world was ending because I called 'em short."
Gaz chuckled. "Didn't they spill an entire soda over Ghost?"
Ghost simply stared into his glass.
"...They did."
"And hid behind Price for twenty minutes," Alejandro added.
Price sighed. "You lot are not bringing any of that up."
The front door opened.
Silence settled over the room.
Every head turned.
The awkward teenager they remembered was gone. Years had a way of changing people, and apparently all at once. Confident, composed, and striking enough that even the roomful of hardened soldiers paused to recalibrate the image they'd carried for nearly a decade.
Soap blinked once.
"...That's your kid?"
Price folded his arms, already reading the expressions around the room.
"Yes."
Gaz looked from Price to the newcomer and back again, trying to find some resemblance beyond the eyes.
Alejandro stood to greet them, offering an easy smile, while Ghost remained seated, studying them with the same quiet scrutiny he gave strangers on operations.
Price broke the silence first.
"Don't just stand there. Get inside."
The atmosphere shifted, familiar yet strangely new. The team suddenly found themselves meeting someone they thought they already knew, while Price watched the room carefully, protective instincts impossible to hide despite the fact that his child was now well into their twenties.
