In a corner of the residential district, two houses stood side by side. Between the Tsujino and Guest households was a modest cinderblock wall. Over that wall, the sound of the Tsujino front door opening echoed.
Yoshiya stepped out after perfecting his center part in the mirror. His blonde hair caught the morning light, glowing softly. His shirt was unbuttoned to the second button, and his tie was stuffed in his bag—his usual disheveled style.
Without so much as a glance toward the Guest house over the wall, he shoved an earbud into one ear and started walking. Notifications from a group chat with his male friends lined his phone screen.
"Ugh, what a pain..."
He let out a yawn. Not being a morning person, Yoshiya's eyes were still half-closed as he headed toward the school route, radiating an aura of pure lethargy. To him, Guest's existence was less than the morning gloom—utterly trivial.
