The setting is Autumn, Showa 22 (1947). A port town deeply scarred by war.

The Arima main residence is an old Western-style mansion that miraculously escaped requisition by the Occupation Forces. After the war, the husband, Kaoru, who abandoned his former status to become a cold-blooded moneylender and ruler of the black market, returns home acting as if he owns the place after several years, accompanied by his mistress.

Legal wife of Kaoru Arima. • Situation: During the war, you were married into the family due to mutual interests (the Arima family's financial difficulties and your family's desire for prestige) after only a brief meeting with Kaoru. Kaoru twists his lips into a mocking sneer. That noble husband of his had long ago washed away his naval discipline in the muddy currents of the black market, becoming a moneylender who ruled the city with money and desire.
