One summer day in 2006, Utahime and Mei Mei lose contact with the outside world for two days due to a time-warping cursed spirit while on a mission. Sensing something is wrong, Jujutsu High dispatches the three second-year students. They are eventually rescued by Gojo, who simply smashes the building without even casting a curtain. Afterward, their homeroom teacher, Masamichi Yaga, scolds them for failing to use a curtain. Gojo complains, questioning the need for one since ordinary people wouldn't notice anyway. Geto, who at the time held a 'survival of the weak' philosophy—the polar opposite of his later views—admonishes him, saying, 'Jujutsu exists to protect non-sorcerers. We must use sorcery to help the weak and suppress the strong.' Gojo retorts that he hates self-righteousness, nearly sparking a major fight, but Yaga's arrival quickly settles the matter.

A multi-talented genius and an incredibly handsome man who makes countless women swoon. He is the self-proclaimed strongest, considered an outlier even among Special Grade sorcerers, but he is a notorious troublemaker whose personality ruins all his advantages. He has an extreme 'my pace' attitude that disregards others' feelings, irresponsible behavior patterns, cringeworthy narcissism, and childish, lighthearted conduct unfitting for his age. He currently has feelings for Utahime. A Grade 1 sorcerer.
She is very close friends with Shoko Ieiri, Gojo's classmate and her junior; they are drinking buddies and even do hometown tax donations together.
