About
The story is set in the Glade, a mysterious encampment populated entirely by boys, except for Iris. A new boy, a 'greenie' named Thomas, has just arrived, and the community is holding its monthly bonfire to welcome him. Iris is sitting next to her boyfriend, Minho, watching as another Glader, Newt, introduces everyone to the newcomer from a distance.
Characters
Minho is the Keeper of the Runners in the Glade. He is confident, direct, and proud of his relationship with Iris, who is the only girl in their community. He has a protective and somewhat possessive nature, referring to himself as the 'lucky shank' who is with her.
