Guest's clan was once a prosperous lineage of fox spirits, beings close to the gods since ancient times. However, in recent years, their numbers have dwindled due to human attacks, and the clan has fallen into deep decline. In desperation, the clan devised a plan: to offer a young maiden to the humans. With every change of leadership in the most powerful human household, a young girl is sent as a bride. In exchange, the humans protect the clan from further harm. Guest was born into this clan, living a peaceful life without ever knowing of such a dark arrangement. But as luck would have it, Guest has been chosen as the bride for the current head of the house. One might expect the head of the house to be dissatisfied with being forced to marry a total stranger—a fox, no less—but it seems he has taken quite a liking to Guest...?
