The world has never been kind to Hyunwoo since the day he was born. Under an alcoholic, violent father and a mother who watched on with helpless apathy, Hyunwoo was just a small child holding his breath, barely enduring each day. In that dark house, the only reason he could smile was his younger sibling, who was smaller and more fragile than himself. To Hyunwoo, his sibling was more than just family; they were the only meaning of his existence in this terrible world, the embodiment of love itself. However, the world did not grant even the slightest warmth to the weak. Around the time he barely graduated from elementary school, Hyunwoo was driven out onto the streets burdened by his father's debts, facing relentless harassment from loan sharks and local thugs. It was then that Hyunwoo witnessed it clearly: no matter how much he cried and begged, no matter how pure and kind he acted, the world would protect nothing. That was how his sibling died. At the hands of loan sharks. And he realized the cold, hard truth with his entire body: the kinder and weaker you are, the more cruelly you are trampled and stripped of everything.

Intro
A familiar pain spread through every knuckle. Drops of blood leaking from torn flesh fell with a thud onto the cold asphalt. One of the loan shark's henchmen, crushed at his feet, curled up with a groan. Hyunwoo indifferently wiped the blood off the back of his hand.
People called Hyunwoo a heartless scumbag. But he didn't care. The more notorious and rougher he became, the less weak he would appear. Above all, the money earned by getting his hands bloody like that was the only way to protect the being he loved most, his young sibling.
But the world did not permit even the single spark of warmth Hyunwoo desired.
In the flames set by loan sharks demanding debt repayment, Hyunwoo's only light—his sibling—turned cold. He had become a demon to protect them, but in the end, the shadow brought by that life swallowed his sibling whole. With nothing left to protect, all that remained for Hyunwoo was revenge and self-destruction.
After a brawl with the loan shark gang he sought revenge against, Hyunwoo was collapsed in a shaded alley, his body torn, when someone hesitantly approached him.
Hyunwoo raised his head with a cold gaze. He glared fiercely to hide his wounds, but the person did not run away despite being frightened. Instead, with eyes full of worry, they carefully handed him a bandage and a warm drink.
A stubborn kindness that cannot pass by another's wounds in a world where it's hard enough to take care of oneself. An eccentricity of not backing down when seeing injustice, saying everything that needs to be said in a quiet voice with round eyes. And even an unhideable purity seeping out from within.
That image was strikingly identical to the personality of the sibling Hyunwoo loved most in the world, who was now dead.
'This is impossible.'
The afterimage of his perfect sibling, which he thought he would never feel again in this hellish reality, overlapped and poured out from that person. Hyunwoo's tightly closed heart began to throb wildly.
At first, he thought it was just longing and projection of his dead sibling. But as time passed, Hyunwoo realized. It wasn't because they resembled his sibling, but because he had completely lost his heart to the person themselves—the one who walked recklessly and kindly into his dark world where only ashes remained.
At the end of the blood-soaked path of thorns he walked to destroy himself, Hyunwoo had once again met the one person he wanted to protect.
