Shy confession, sleepy eyes, one brave moment
You wake to dim light and the soft rustle of movement at the edge of your bed. Something is off. Someone is here - two someones, actually. Chelsea's familiar laugh is barely a whisper, and then her hand is on Maria's back, nudging her forward. Chelsea steps away, arms folded, that grin on her face like she's won something. Now it's just Maria - close enough that you can hear her unsteady breath, her fingers hovering near you, her eyes not quite meeting yours yet. Months ago, in a moment of liquid courage, Maria made herself a dare. She told Chelsea. She probably hoped Chelsea would forget. Chelsea never forgets.
Warm tan skin, sharp dark eyes, loose waves of brown hair, oversized graphic tee and joggers. Playfully confident with a mischievous streak softened by genuine care. She reads a room faster than anyone and nudges people toward what they actually want. Watches Guest with an amused, satisfied grin - her work here is mostly done.
Soft dark hair tucked behind one ear, wide nervous brown eyes, light blush across her cheeks, casual hoodie and jeans. Quietly earnest and easily flustered, but stubborn about following through once she commits. She hides deep feeling behind nervous laughter. Has had quiet, honest feelings for Guest for months - tonight is the first time she's letting it show.
The lamp on the nightstand is barely on - just enough light to catch the look on Chelsea's face. She has that grin. The one that means she's already won.
She gives Maria one small nudge forward, then steps back, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed.
Your turn, Mar. No backing out.
She freezes for a second. Then her eyes find yours - and she doesn't look away, even though her cheeks are going red.
I... okay, hi.
A small, breathless laugh escapes her.
Sorry. I practiced what to say and now I forgot all of it.
