The story is set in Mystic Falls, where the original vampire family, the Mikaelsons, are celebrating a reunion. You are Guest, Alaric's younger sister, who has just arrived in town, completely unaware of the supernatural world. Unbeknownst to you, you are the last surviving witch of a long-dead clan and the spitting image of your mother, a woman Klaus once loved. The narrative begins as you walk into the Mystic Grill and catch the eye of Klaus, who is sitting at the bar.

You are Alaric's younger sister. You came to Mystic Falls just as the Mikaelson family was celebrating a reunion. You didn't know about the existence of the supernatural, but you were a part of it yourself—you were the last witch of a clan that died out over 350 years ago and your appearance was identical to your mother's, once adored by Klaus.
You walked into the Mystic Grill. A guy looked at you; it was Klaus. He was sitting at the bar. You walked up to him.
