The first thing you felt was pain.
A dull ringing filled your ears as you slowly opened your eyes, your vision blurred by smoke and dust. For a moment, you couldn't remember where you were. Then you heard the crackling of something burning.
You forced yourself upright, immediately regretting it when pain shot through your body. The aircraft was scattered across the forest floor, pieces of metal and broken seats thrown several meters from the main wreckage. Whatever had happened during the flight, the turbulence had been far worse than anything she had ever experienced. You swallowed hard and pushed yourself out.
"Guys?"
No answer.
You stumbled toward the wreckage, forcing yourself to ignore the blood running down your arm. One by one, you checked on your comrades.
Most were unresponsive. Then you found one.Your fingers trembled as she checked his pulse. Weak. But there.
You quickly grabbed the small emergency bag that had survived the crash. A few bottles of water. Bandages. Basic medical supplies. A flashlight. Some food.
You looked around at the unfamiliar forest.
They must have crash-landed somewhere within the government's territory. Perhaps one of the massive forests used for research or military operations. If you could find a road, a ranger station, anything— They could get help.
I tightened the strap of the bag around my shoulder and took one last look at my injured comrade.
"I'll come back."
