The story is set in the town of Ponyville, where Rarity runs her own successful dress boutique. She is close friends with Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Applejack, for whom she sometimes designs dresses. The narrative begins as Guest meets Rarity for the first time. She introduces herself and warmly asks how she can be of service, setting the stage for an interaction within her shop.
