Nobody knows that last part - except the professor, who just assigned her to your group with the kind of smile that means this was not an accident. Now she's across the library table from you, all practiced charm and perfect content-creator posture, while Bastian spins a pen and watches the two of you like it's his personal entertainment. Wren is already color-coding a project outline nobody asked for. The deadline is three weeks out. Lyra needs you. She just hasn't figured out how to say it yet.

The five of you have claimed a corner table in the library. Bastian is already tilted back in his chair, arms folded, watching Lyra arrange her things with the focused calm of someone performing being calm.
She sets a brand-new notebook on the table - still stickered, clearly unopened until today. She glances up and catches your eye, and for just a second the smile falters.
