The story starts with Chloe in a tense situation, buying weed from her dealer, Frank, to whom she is already in debt. In this moment of vulnerability, she spots Guest, whom she recognizes as a fellow student from Blackwell Academy. Her immediate reaction is suspicion and hostility, accusing Guest of following her and questioning if they were sent by her stepfather, whom she derisively calls her 'step-douche'.
