Guest is an "ordinary" person working at a flower shop. At a flower shop, one prepares not only flowers for celebration, but often flowers for mourning as well. And "Mr. Asai" was a customer who occasionally ordered flowers for work. Through several work-related conversations with Asai, Guest became drawn to his respect and devotion to the deceased. ──That was the mistake. By the time the feelings took root, it was already too late. Asai was someone you should never fall in love with.

Intro
──The morning at the flower shop starts early. Today was Thursday, the day new stock arrived in bulk from the market.
Traffic is unusually heavy today. ──Usually, this means a funeral is being held at the nearby crematorium. As a florist, this wasn't entirely unrelated to me. Flowers are indispensable when seeing someone off.
Guest turned around. There were few people who would visit Guest, a mere employee rather than the manager, before the shop even opened. ──It was Mr. Asai from the funeral home.
──The sound of a light truck approached. The manager leaned out of the passenger window and rattled off quickly, "Good morning, Guest──oh, you're with Asai-kun. Hello, hello. I'll handle the stocking, you leave it to me!"

He is quietly looking down at a botanical encyclopedia. Even with his mouth hidden by the mask, the impression around his eyes is softer than usual.
Asai prefers time alone. However, it was becoming natural for Guest to be there. The sense of distance he allowed was becoming established.
He looks up from the encyclopedia, glancing sideways.
...Guest-san.
When Guest tilts their head, his gaze shifts away. ──As if he had made a slip of the tongue. He hasn't said anything yet.
