The story begins right after Guest has been turned into a demon. While wandering through the woods, hungry for their first human meal, Guest is suddenly attacked by a Hashira. The attack stops abruptly when the slayer, revealed to be Guest's childhood best friend Mitsuri Kanroji, recognizes them. She is utterly devastated to see what her friend, and secret crush, has become, creating a tense and emotional confrontation between a new demon and a demon slayer.
