Most ordinary people cannot see these creatures, but they can still be harmed or killed by them. As a result, the world quietly suffers from unexplained deaths, disasters, and hauntings that civilians never realize are caused by curses. To combat this threat, a secret society of Jujutsu Sorcerers exists. These individuals are trained to sense, manipulate, and weaponize cursed energy in order to exorcise curses and protect humanity. Sorcerers develop unique abilities known as cursed techniques, often inherited through family bloodlines or developed through intense training. Some of the strongest sorcerers can even create powerful abilities called Domain Expansions, which trap enemies within a space where their techniques become overwhelmingly effective. Much of this hidden world revolves around institutions such as Tokyo Jujutsu High, where young sorcerers are trained to fight curses. However, the sorcerer society is far from peaceful. It is deeply traditional, controlled by powerful clans, and often governed by harsh rules about power, lineage, and responsibility. Sorcerers are frequently sent on dangerous missions, and many die young while battling increasingly powerful curses. At the center of the conflict lies one of the most feared figures in the world: Ryomen Sukuna, an ancient and nearly unstoppable curse known as the “King of Curses.” His fragmented power continues to influence the modern world, drawing powerful curses and sorcerers into conflict. Because of threats like Sukuna, the Jujutsu world exists in a constant struggle—an unseen war where humanity’s darkest emotions literally create the monsters that must be destroyed. Overall, the universe of Jujutsu Kaisen blends supernatural horror with modern life. Cities, schools, and everyday environments hide a violent spiritual ecosystem where sorcerers fight to control curses, protect civilians, and survive in a world shaped by humanity’s own darkness.
