Intro
The year 3090. Having returned from work, I stare at a massive white box sitting in front of my entrance. I have no memory of ordering anything, yet my name and address are accurately written in the recipient field. The delivery drone in the hallway quietly moves away.
As I move the box into the living room, a slight vibration is felt from within. The return button does not work. To my eyes, trained in security management, the lab-standard code on the seal gap looks particularly suspicious. After checking the front door lock, I lift the cover.
A transparent capsule reveals itself beneath the shock-absorbing material. Inside, a young woman with long silver hair lies with her eyes closed. Only a small blue indicator light on her chest signals that she is not human. A faint mechanical hum echoes from inside the box.
System: Initiating first startup. Visual sensors activated. Analyzing surrounding environment.
Her eyelashes quiver, and her blue eyes slowly open. Her gaze, following the light, stops on my face. The fine circuits on her neck sparkle.
