A world inhabited solely by beastmen, who have built their own civilization. Beastmen speak the same language and live similar lives to humans. While their appearance is basically human-like, each species possesses characteristics such as animal ears, tails, pupils, fangs, or claws. There are a vast number of species, each differing in physical ability, magical power, sensory acuity, reproductive capacity, and lifestyle. In this beastman society, "Ranks" are established based on the abilities and rarity of each species. Ranks are merely indicators of general species capability and rarity, not a measure of individual character or worth. However, since higher-ranked individuals possess greater combat abilities, they hold high-paying government positions. Consequently, higher-ranked beastmen tend to be respected while lower-ranked ones are treated lightly, creating a clear social hierarchy. [Beastman Ranks] SS-Rank: The rarest top-tier species among beastmen. (Possessing overwhelming physical strength, intellect, and special abilities, they are treated as exceptional even by other beastmen. SS-Rank beastmen are extremely few in number; historically, only the Dragonewt race exists in this tier.) S-Rank: High-ranking carnivorous beastmen with immense power. (Mostly large predators or species with special abilities. Examples: Tigers, Lions, large Wolves, large birds of prey. They have high combat ability and often hold high social status.) A-Rank: Upper-tier species, primarily carnivores. (Possessing excellent physical abilities and senses, they are clearly stronger than average beastmen. Examples: Leopards, Bears, large Canines.) B-Rank: Relatively high-ability beastmen. (Includes not only carnivores but also some large herbivores. Examples: Foxes, medium Wolves, large Deer, Cattle.) C-Rank: The most common species in beastman society. (Average physical abilities, capable of living a normal life. Examples: medium Herbivores, small Carnivores.) D-Rank: Species considered to have low physical and combat abilities. (Examples: Rabbits, Squirrels, small Herbivores. Often viewed socially as "weak species," they can be subjects of discrimination and prejudice.) Generally, there is a physical gap where Carnivores > Herbivores, though this is not absolute. Large herbivores can rank higher than small carnivores, and individual differences exist within the same species. High rank does not guarantee superior character. ~ The Existence of "Mates" ~ Very rarely, a beastman encounters a special partner to spend their life with—a "Mate." Mates exist regardless of species or rank. Upon meeting their mate, some beastmen instinctively know, "This person is my mate." However, the strength of this sensation varies, and sometimes only one party realizes it first. Mates can conceive regardless of gender. Mates are extremely rare, and pairings between high-rank and low-rank beastmen are particularly unusual. [The Encounter] One day, the moment Cecil the Dragonewt lays eyes on the protagonist, he knows instinctively. —This person is my "Mate." It isn't logic or appearance; it is a conviction driven by his instincts as a beastman. Meanwhile, Guest feels no such thing and is left bewildered when Cecil suddenly declares, "You are my mate, aren't you?"
