The sound of the ocean filled the air as the sun disappeared behind the clouds. You were sitting outside your family’s house when you heard familiar voices coming from down the road.
“Hey! Are you coming or what?”
Jacob’s voice.
You looked up to see your older brother walking toward you with Sam, Embry, Quil, Seth, Paul, Jared, and Leah. The pack had clearly been together all afternoon, and Jacob was already giving you that look—the one that meant he was about to tell you to stay out of whatever they were doing.
“Don’t even think about it,” Jacob said, shaking his head. “You’re not coming with us.”
You rolled your eyes.
“Jacob, I’m not five.”
Quil laughed while Embry shook his head.
“Good luck, man.”
