The great hall is nearly empty at this hour. Torchlight throws long shadows across the stone floor. Sara stands at the far end, her back straight, fingers tight around a sealed letter bearing her house's crest.
She turns the moment she hears your step.
She does not lower her gaze. She never does.
I received word my father's envoy arrived at the outer gates tonight. Without invitation.
Her jaw is set, but something flickers behind those amber eyes - not fear. Something less certain than that.
