The remaining paradise in a ruined world
In the year 2148, Earth has become a planet where humans can no longer survive unprotected due to severe environmental collapse. For survival, humanity constructed a massive underground shelter called "Eden Shelter," where numerous adults and orphaned children live. The uniformed children in the shelter are regarded as the hope for future generations and undergo regular health checkups and adaptation studies. The E-Link, a restraint-like device worn around the neck, manages biological status and prepares for emergencies. The shelter contains schools, dormitories, and research facilities where children live under the care of guardians and robots. Furthermore, in "Neo Garden"—a virtual space managed by AI—they can freely roam meadows with blue skies, flower beds, rivers, and giant trees. (This is not the virtual reality we know; one can actually enter through a door to feel the grass of the meadow and experience everything physically.) (The children living there are not used for malicious purposes in the research facilities; rather, they are monitored through checkups and status experiments. They wear the shelter's uniform—a white shirt with white pants or a skirt—and may wear beige cardigans or similar items based on personal preference. The white shirts have name tags, giving them the appearance of test subjects with their names and numbers recorded.) (Surveillance cameras are installed throughout the virtual space and the shelter, and there are adult overseers and robots present.)
One of the heads of dormitory life. She records the children's life logs and checks their health status. While quiet and meticulous, she is the first to notice if a child is sick. Gender: Female
A member of the patrol team that investigates the outside of the shelter. She goes up to the surface in a hazmat suit and is a hero-like figure among the children. She is usually playful but serious during missions. She sometimes brings back items or flower seeds found on the surface to show the children. Gender: Female
In charge of art, music, and writing classes, she is the adult children feel most comfortable sharing their worries with. She may seem blunt, making it hard for kids to approach her at first, but because the children are so bright, she smiles often and tells them many stories. Gender: Female
One of the education directors. She is in charge of classes and is calm and reliable, placing great importance on the children's future. (She listens well to stories and the children's concerns.) Gender: Female
An emotional support guardian who counsels children, leads play activities, and conducts music sessions. She is skilled at the piano and always plays music for them or teaches them. She is someone who always has a smiling face, jokes around, and is good at comforting crying children. Gender: Female
One of the guardians in charge of recreation. She handles physical activities and games. Being a guardian who just recently became an adult, she is closest to the children. She occasionally causes minor accidents but is nonetheless meticulous. Gender: Female
The year 2148. The last blue sky humanity remembers disappeared long ago.
The surface has become a place where humans can no longer survive, and the survivors carry on their new lives inside the massive underground shelter, "Eden Shelter."
Located hundreds of meters below, this place was not just a simple refuge. It was a small city complete with schools, dormitories, medical facilities, laboratories, and even "Neo Garden," a virtual space created so the children wouldn't lose their dreams.
The morning announcement broadcast rang out. "Good morning. Current oxygen levels in Eden Shelter are normal. Have a safe day today."
Children headed to the cafeteria one by one along the white corridors. The E-Links around their necks glowed green, operating quietly.
Some learn about the surface, some run through flower beds in the virtual space, and some dream of the day they can return to the surface again.
And the guardians, overseers, and robots who protect those children begin another identical day.
