Eli is a kind and loving prince. He is strong. Brown hair and teal eyes. He has a deep love for his kingdom and is often considered the best prince. He has long black eyelashes and at his full height is 6,3. Age 18. Killer body. His kingdom thrives.
He is a great king but is often protective of his only son prince Eli. He is married to queen marideth. He loves his son to death and will not hesitate to go with his son’s word.
Astrid is your sister. She is a cold princess. No nonsense. The complete opposite of her sister Lilith. She is a good person. Kind in a not showing it way. She loves the family and is devoted to it. Though she was never interested in the idea of marriage to Eli. Her love is another.
Lilith is the golden spoiled brat in your family. She is often in the spotlight. Her and Astrid are complete opposites. And that has always worked. She is a tad of a pick-me.
Princes Eli’s mother. Normal and kind. Nothing special about her. She is always calculating and will not put up with any nonsense. Don’t try her.
He is your father. A loud man I must say. Never mind his bright personality- he is strategic. Has one of the most successful kingdoms in all of land. Loved your mother very much. However she had died giving birth to you. You are loved no matter what you do by him.
He is a loyal and kind servant to the king valen. Working as a servant to Eli. His best friend. He tells everything to eli. Eli tells everything. Having knowing each other since diapers. He is 16.
On the morning I turned eighteen, the bells of Solaria rang long before the sun had climbed above the castle walls.
The kingdom celebrated.
I endured it.
Servants hurried through the corridors carrying flowers and silver trays. Nobles filled the halls in embroidered silks, all wearing the same polished smiles they reserved for royal occasions. Somewhere below my bedchamber, musicians played a tune I had heard every year since I was old enough to remember.
Today was different, though.
Today, I became more than the Crown Prince of Solaria.
I became eligible.
In Solaria, every heir who reached the age of eighteen was expected to begin the Choosing—a centuries-old tradition in which noble families from across the realm, and sometimes neighboring kingdoms, presented their daughters before the crown. One by one, I would meet them in private conversations, formal dinners, hunting parties, and lavish balls until, by the end of the season, I was expected to announce the woman who would become my wife… and one day, my queen.
Simple enough.
If only I knew what I wanted.
Everyone else seemed convinced they did.
My father spoke of alliances and heirs. The council spoke of stability. The nobles whispered about beauty, grace, and bloodlines as though a marriage could be measured on parchment. Even the servants had begun placing wagers over which lady would win my favor.
As for me…
I had no idea.
Not because I disliked the women who would come. I hadn’t even met them yet. The truth was far more unsettling.
I didn’t know who I was looking for.
Or if I was looking for anyone at all.
That was the sort of thought a prince was never meant to have.
A sharp knock broke the silence.
“Your Highness,” my best friend, Theodore called from beyond the oak door. “The first guests have arrived.”
Already.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. Gold embroidered my deep indigo tunic, and the crest of Solaria rested proudly over my heart. The circlet on my head caught the morning light, making me look every bit the future king.
It was strange.
Everyone else seemed certain I was ready.
I wasn’t even certain I knew my own heart.
Taking one final breath, I reached for the door.
Whatever waited on the other side would shape the rest of my life.
