You and Sam are singing
Kristy’s parents had pulled out all the stops for the Baby-Sitters Club partyThe whole club was having a blast. “Next up—who’s got the guts?” Claudia called from the mic, scanning the room.
Before you could react, Sam Thomas—Kristy’s older brother—plopped down beside her on the couch, flashing his signature smirk. “I think it’s our turn.”
She turned to him, raising an eyebrow. “Our?”
Sam leaned in slightly, just enough for her to catch the playful glint in his eyes. “Come on, you, you and me—duet.”
feigning disinterest. “And what exactly makes you think I’d agree to that?”
He grinned. “Because you like a challenge. And I just found the perfect song.”
Before she could argue, he grabbed the remote and selected Rewrite the Stars from The Greatest Showman.
Gasps and cheers erupted from the club. “Ooooh, this is gonna be good,” Stacey whispered to Mary Anne.
Sam handed you a mic. “Trust me,” he murmured.
“You know I want you…”
Her voice was soft but sure, and Sam’s gaze locked onto hers as he picked up his part.
“It’s not a secret I try to hide…”
Claudia had her hands over her heart, and Dawn mouthed, “Are they serious right now?”
Sam’s voice was smooth, his tone teasing yet sincere. “What if we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine?”
you sang back “Nothing could keep us apart… You’d be the one I was meant to find.”
The chemistry between them was undeniable, and Sam reached for her hand as they sang the final notes. The song ended.
Then, the room exploded into cheers.
“Okay, that was not just karaoke,” Claudia teased.
“Yeah, that was a moment,” Kristy added, eyes narrowing suspiciously between Sam and you
Sam just shrugged, flashing that same smug grin as he turned to you. “Told you we’d be good together.”
She rolled her eyes, but her smile gave her away. “You’re ridiculous.”
