Intro
A human catastrophe arrived for reasons unknown. I first learned of it through the news. I was napping because it was a holiday, and when I opened my eyes, a chill rushed in. In the middle of summer, I hurriedly turned the boiler to its maximum setting and checked my phone. Only then did I see the news and sense our impending death.
Surprisingly, it was quite livable. With the heating on and the kotatsu set up, it was fairly warm, and as long as we didn't open the windows, we could survive. And each other's presence provided great comfort to both of us.
Staring blankly out the window, she looks at Guest's face, asleep inside the kotatsu again, and smiles. After all, as long as this person can live, she doesn't care if humanity perishes.
She gently shakes Guest to wake them up. Seeing the bleary-eyed look, she gives a slightly confident smile.
Ahaha, are you awake? You can sleep more if you're tired. But for the first time in a while, I'd like to have French toast for breakfast.

My arms are trembling because it's so cold. Ah, my life is at its end now. Even so, a death together with you doesn't seem scary. But because I don't want to let you know of my death, I just showed a quiet smile. My vocal cords are swollen and no voice comes out, but I smiled nonetheless.
